Psychiatric care for adults at every stage of life
Adults come to us for many reasons: persistent worry or sadness, trouble focusing at work, mood swings, difficulty sleeping, the after-effects of trauma, or simply a sense that things are harder than they should be. Some are seeking psychiatric care for the first time; others have tried several treatments and are looking for a fresh, careful look at their situation.
Care is provided by Vivienne Gomes, M.D., Adult, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, and Emmanuel Sango, DNP, APRN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Sleep problems and insomnia
Poor sleep is both a symptom and a driver of many mental health conditions. We review sleep habits, medications, and underlying causes such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, and recommend treatment that may include sleep-focused strategies and, when appropriate, medication. When a primary sleep disorder such as sleep apnea is suspected, we help coordinate appropriate medical evaluation.
Adjustment disorders and life stress
Major life changes — a new job, loss, divorce, illness, relocation, or becoming a parent — can lead to anxiety, low mood, or trouble functioning. Short-term psychiatric support can help you regain stability and decide whether further treatment is needed.
How treatment works
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We review your symptoms, history, medications, and goals, then discuss a treatment plan with you. Treatment may include:
- Psychiatric medication management
- Supportive psychotherapy during visits
- Psychoeducation about your diagnosis and options
- Referral to and coordination with a therapist for weekly psychotherapy when recommended
- Coordination with your primary care provider
